“Do the work. Do the analysis. But feel your run. Feel your race. Feel the joy that is running.” – Kara Goucher, 2008 Olympian, Runner’s World Quote of the Day
This is how we ran as kids…less analysis but with joy
This is how we should run every day
Anything else is restricted, restrained, self-limiting
Joy is the key
Find your passion…persevere…to live your greatest journey
– Look deep
– Own it
– Live it
– Use it to look deeper
– Unleash it
In running, business, family, faith…in life
Feel the joy!
“Fear is a question: What are you afraid of, and why? Just as the seed of health is in illness, because illness contains information, your fears are a treasure house of self-knowledge if you explore them.” – Marilyn Ferguson
Whether one mile or a hundred miles, face your fear!
“Awareness is the birthplace of possibility. Everything you want to
do, everything you want to be, starts here. To be a successful visionary, you
must be as aware as possible. At every moment, many paths lead forward.
Awareness tells you which is the right one to take.” – Deepak Chopra
It’s key to…
– good leadership
– good followership
– your team
– your customers
– your work
– your future
– your legacy.
It’s good to look to others for support, guidance, affirmation, and praise so we know how well we are doing…that we are moving down the right path…finding our confidence…maybe saving time and energy by drawing on the success of others. Looking to others too much though can be problematic.
It takes a strong foundation to build a home, or business, or anything that we want to endure. That foundation is made of building blocks consisting of our core values, our convictions, our work ethic, our accomplishments…these blocks are strongest when they come from within.
Building blocks from others can be good and useful. However, if the support or praise that was once positive and given freely is now retracted or turns negative, we may find ourselves with a weakened foundation…less sure of our path…less confident…facing fear and doubt…and poor performance.
Look to others for support and guidance but build your foundation from within…prepare, be self-aware, define your values, walk your path…with confidence…and find your success. It may take longer. It may be harder. But it will come from within and it will be strong.
Motivational Quotes for running… and for life…a path
1. Live with no regrets:
“If you want to become the best runner you can be, start now. Don’t spend the rest of your life wondering if you can do it.” – Priscilla Welch.
2. Easy is where you are now…success is on the other side of hard:
“It’s supposed to be hard. If it wasn’t hard, everyone would do it. The hard…is what makes it great!” – Tom Hanks in A League of Their Own.
3. In all things, find balance:
“If you become restless, speed up. If you become winded, slow down. You climb the mountain in an equilibrium between restlessness and exhaustion.” – Robert Pirsig.
Success starts with getting out-of-the-way!
Most of us walk around working hard at being busy, doing more, getting better. We want to win, take it to the next level, go for the gold. But all too often, we get into our head and let the doubts set in, do the old woulda-shoulda-coulda routine on ourselves, beat ourselves up. We spin a whole lot of negative energy around in our head.
That spinning is us getting in our own way. Where does it come from? Much of it from our past…getting picked last for the neighborhood ball game, told by a grown-up we wouldn’t amount to anything, maybe a supervisor gave us an unflattering employee review…but in reality, where it came from doesn’t really matter.
What matters is what are we going to do about it right now! Step left, step right, get out of our head and we can do the things we need to do to succeed.
Instead of saying, “I can’t,” “I’m stuck,” “They did this to me,” we can say, “I can,” “I have options,” “I can do this!” We get ourselves off the negative spiral and on to a positive spiral.
Positive speak generates more positive energy and that gets us positive behavior getting positive results…because in reality, we have everything we need to do all that we want to do. It’s about choices in this moment right here right now. We can choose to wallow, fall behind or give up.
Or, we can choose to step-up!
So, if there is something not working for you, something you are not happy with…ask yourself one of the most powerful questions you can ever ask yourself, “What am I going to do about it?”
Then do it!
We all know the fundamental principle that building your network is good for business. The greater your reach, the more opportunities come your way. What’s really cool is that you don’t necessarily need to expand your network all that much to find significantly more opportunities. Here’s an interesting way to look at it…
Imagine your network as a sphere made of people and opportunities circling all around you, i.e. the phrase sphere of influence. Mathematically speaking, the volume of that sphere (the people and the opportunities) is:
V = ⁴⁄₃π r³
The “V” stands for volume and “r” stands for radius of the sphere. If the radius of your sphere or your reach, is 1, then V = ⁴⁄₃π 1³= 4.18
Now, imagine you extend your reach to 2, then V = ⁴⁄₃π 2³= 33.41….and that’s a big difference…8 times bigger! If your reach is 3, you get 27 times bigger and so on!
Expand your reach by just a little bit and your network and the opportunities that come with it grows exponentially!
So, get out there and go to that networking meeting, meet that new person, and build those relationships!
Tell me…how do you build your network?
